Vihreä Keidas Foundation sr – Stiftelsen Gröna Oasen
The purpose of the foundation is to work on a Christian basis, particularly to free young people from substance abuse and help them lead healthy lives.
On October 24, 1973, Vihreä Keidas ry established the Green Oasis Foundation to manage the assets donated by Ella Grönroos, a leading figure in the early stages of the association. The founding member and first chair of the Vihreä Keidas Foundation was Heikki Herlin, who, together with his wife Anna Herlin, was involved in establishing the foundation. Anna Malmberg donated the foundation's initial capital.
In 2016, the foundation received an apartment from Aino Isoniemi, a volunteer from the association's early days, through her will. Over the decades, the foundation's capital has grown to such an extent that it now owns 184 m2 of comfortable premises in Sörnäinen, Helsinki, which it rents to Samaria rf for substance abuse and preventive youth work. The Vihreä Keidas Foundation and its previous long-term tenant, Vihreä Keidas ry, have received grants from RAY (from lottery proceeds since the beginning of 2017) as well as donations from companies, organizations, and individuals.
The Vihreä Keidas Foundation fulfills its purpose by managing its premises and renting them at affordable rates to Samaria rf, which pursues the same goals, and by collaborating with Vihreä Keidas ry, which provides low-threshold substance abuse services in the local area by providing it with expert assistance and inspiration for its clients who are in challenging life situations.
